Tuapeka-Waitahuna Catchment Group

The Tuapeka-Waitahuna Catchment Group covers 71,097 hectares. The group spans both of the Tuapeka and Waitahuna catchments.

The Tuapeka originates in the hills around Lawrence and runs into the Clutha River at Tuapeka Mouth.

The Waitahuna originates near Lake Mahinerangi and runs into the Clutha River downstream from Clydevale.

Catchment highlights

The Tuapeka has large parts of its catchment in production forestry.

The Waitahuna is known for its populations of lamprey.
